PATTAYA, Thailand – Police have shut down an illegal cosmetic clinic in North Pattaya after an undercover operation exposed unlicensed Botox services being offered to customers.
On April 8, Police Major General Kiatthasak Srathongoi, Commander of Investigation Division Region 2, led a joint operation with public health officials from Chonburi Provincial Public Health Office to inspect a clinic known as “Victoria Clinic” on Phettrakun Road in North Pattaya.
Authorities said the operation was launched after intelligence revealed the clinic was operating without proper authorization.
An undercover female officer posed as a customer and booked a Botox treatment for facial wrinkle reduction at a promotional price of 1,999 baht. Once the procedure was about to begin and staff prepared medical equipment, officers moved in and made the arrest.
Inside the clinic, authorities found five staff members, Botox injection equipment prepared for use, and several unregistered pharmaceutical products stored in a back room. Investigators also discovered cash used in the undercover purchase and customer records showing multiple transactions, mostly in the low-thousands of baht.
During questioning, the clinic owner claimed the business had only recently started and was operating temporarily to serve pre-booked customers and build trust after promotional events. The owner also said the clinic needed to remain open to avoid being seen as fraudulent.
However, police confirmed the operation was illegal as the clinic was not licensed as a medical facility. All suspects were taken into custody and transferred to investigators at Pattaya City Police Station for legal proceedings.
