The Meteorological Department advises residents to beware of flash floods, landslides, and overflowing rivers as the remnants of Typhoon Kalmaegi continue to bring heavy rainfall, while rough seas in the Andaman remain dangerous for maritime activities.

PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued its 18th bulletin on Typhoon Kalmaegi, reporting that the storm has weakened but continues to bring heavy rainfall to parts of northern and central Thailand. Authorities warn of possible flash floods, landslides, and river overflows.

A weakening low-pressure system from former Typhoon Kalmaegi currently covers the western part of northeastern Thailand and is expected to move through the upper central and northern regions over the coming days. From Nov. 8–9, heavy rainfall is expected in parts of western northeastern Thailand, central, and northern regions. Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant, especially those in mountainous zones near watercourses, low-lying areas, and flood-prone regions. Farmers are urged to protect crops and guard against potential agricultural losses.

In the Andaman Sea, strong winds are generating waves of 2–3 meters, with higher waves over 3 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in stormy conditions, while small boats should remain docked for at least one more day.

The TMD urges the public to closely monitor official announcements and provides updates on its website at www.tmd.go.th or via hotlines 0-2399-4012–13 and 1182, available 24 hours. (TNA)
