A ranking Tourist Police Division commander ordered Pattaya police to step up safety precautions ahead of Loy Krathong.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Teerapol Kubtanon, acting for the division’s commissioner, dispatched officers and volunteers Nov. 6 on Walking Street.

He said Loy Krathong is a busy time for tourism and police need to ensure they are safe. He inspected Walking Street to ensure safety measures were in place.

He said bars must ensure they are not allowing minors to enter, check for guns and ban any drug use on their property.
