The Department of Rural Roads (DRR) recommends four alternative routes to ease Songkran travel congestion, including diversions from Highway 32, Rama II Road, and Phahonyothin Road, as authorities install guidance signs to improve traffic flow during the holiday exodus.

PATTAYA, Thailand – The Department of Rural Roads (DRR) has recommended four alternative outbound routes during the Songkran festival to help ease congestion on major highways and improve travel flow.

The first route bypasses Highway 32 between Ang Thong and Sing Buri, using local roads through Wat Tan Chet Cho and Wat Chaiyo Worawihan before reconnecting near Pak Bang Market, offering a smoother option for northbound travel.

A second route avoids Rama II Road by diverting traffic from Phetkasem Road through Phutthamonthon Sai 4, Phutthasakhon Road, and Krathum Baen district, before reconnecting with Highway 375 and returning to Rama II, reducing pressure on a key outbound corridor.

Two additional routes provide alternatives to Phahonyothin Road. One runs from Rangsit via Highway 305 and local roads before linking to Highway 33 and Motorway M6 at Hin Kong, while the other uses Highway 346 and connects to the outer ring road before reaching Motorway M6 at the Bang Pa-in checkpoint.

Authorities have installed route guidance signs across the rural road network to support smoother travel during the holiday period. Travelers can contact local Rural Roads District Offices or call the Department of Rural Roads hotline at 1146 for further information and assistance. (NNT)
