Cool morning temperatures blanket northern Thailand, as a high-pressure system brings cold to chilly weather across the North and Northeast, while the southern seas remain moderately rough with waves reaching up to two meters.

PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) reported that northern and northeastern Thailand are experiencing cool to cold conditions, while other parts of the country are seeing cooler mornings as a high-pressure system continues to influence weather patterns.

According to the department, the North and Northeast are facing noticeably cold weather, while the Central Plains — including Bangkok and its surrounding provinces — along with the Eastern region, are experiencing cooler temperatures during the morning hours. The conditions are attributed to northwesterly winds in the upper atmosphere combined with a high-pressure system covering upper Thailand.

Authorities have advised residents in affected areas to take care of their health, particularly vulnerable groups, due to the cooler temperatures. In the South, rainfall has decreased as the northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand and southern provinces has weakened.

However, sea conditions remain moderate, especially in the lower Gulf of Thailand, where waves are expected to reach heights of 1 to 2 meters. In areas experiencing thunderstorms, waves may exceed 2 meters. Mariners are urged to exercise caution, particularly in stormy areas, while small boats are advised to remain alert to changing sea conditions.
