PARIS, France – Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya presided over the “Chud Thai: Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume” event at Le Meurice Hotel in Paris, France on October 10, 2026. Organized by the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, the event runs from October 10 to 11, 2026, to showcase Thailand’s rich heritage, history, and royal craftsmanship in national attire on the global stage.

During the event, Her Royal Highness led a seminar on the evolution of Thai textiles and costumes, along with a fashion presentation featuring all eight styles of Chud Thai Phra Rajaniyom and three styles of Suea Phra Ratchathan, designed and tailored by Tirapan and Pa Couture.

The exhibition included live demonstrations of royal court craftsmanship, such as gold brocade weaving and traditional embroidery by Weeratham Taragoonngernthai, the 2025 National Artist in Fine Arts. Additional displays highlighted traditional jewelry making and floral garland craftsmanship, presenting Chud Thai as a living, contemporary cultural heritage.

This international showcase aligns with the Thai government’s 2024 initiative to nominate Chud Thai for UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The nomination will be reviewed at the 21st Intergovernmental Committee session in Xiamen, China, in December 2026. (NNT)
