A lucky Plutaluang landlord won’t have to worry as much about late rent after winning 6 million baht in the government lottery.

Somjai Sirisut, 51, posted a photo of her son Wirit’s winning ticket – 201823 – on Facebook Jan. 17, a day after Government Lottery Office drawing.

It was the second bolt of lightning to hit the family in a month. In the Dec. 30 drawing Somjai won 100,000 baht.

The Somjai family runs a grocery store and rents out rooms in the Sattahip sub-district.

Wirit, 35, said he and his 21-year-old wife Ariya Tapaopong bought the ticket over the New Year’s holiday in Chaiyaphum Province. He played the last two digits of his pickup truck’s license plate, as he had done many times. This time he got lucky.

The ticket was locked up tight until he could cash it in, only showing off copies to friends and the media.

Wirit said he will use the money to pay his debt on the apartment house and donate some it to make merit.
