Pattaya and Banglamung introduce blue vests for 5,281 registered motorcycle taxi drivers in a reorganization aimed at standardizing services and improving passenger confidence.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya and the wider Banglamung district are introducing blue vests for registered public motorcycle taxi drivers, replacing the traditional orange uniforms in a reorganization covering 5,281 drivers and 554 designated taxi stands.

Chonburi Deputy Governor Phongsit Pichanan presided over the launch of the initiative at Alcazar Pattaya on October 16, joined by Banglamung District Chief Anusak Phiriya-amorn, Pattaya Police Chief Pol Col Anek Srathongyu, traffic police representatives and motorcycle taxi drivers.

The change follows a resolution by the Chonburi Local Subcommittee for Banglamung on November 20, 2025, approving the switch from orange to blue vests and establishing standardized rules for public motorcycle taxi services. Authorities said the initiative aims to give motorcycle taxi drivers a clear, modern identity, improve Pattaya’s tourism image and strengthen confidence in passenger safety among residents and visitors.

Banglamung, which includes Pattaya, has designated 554 motorcycle taxi stands and registered 5,281 public motorcycle taxi drivers. Officials have also established criteria for cancelling designated stands and removing drivers from the registration list as part of efforts to improve oversight and ensure compliance. After receiving training on the relevant rules and regulations, drivers took part in a motorcycle procession wearing the new blue vests to publicize the change and raise awareness among residents and tourists.
