PATTAYA, Thailand – The monsoon continued to keep Pattaya and Jomtien wet on Monday, September 28, with rain returning around midday and thunder heard over parts of the city. At about 11:45 a.m., residents on Jomtien Second Road reported another round of rain, with some saying clothes hung out to dry had barely had time to dry before the showers returned. The latest rain comes after several days of unsettled weather that brought heavy downpours, flooding, strong winds and rough seas across Pattaya and surrounding areas.
The Thai Meteorological Department said on Monday that a relatively strong southwest monsoon was prevailing over the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf, with heavy rain and isolated very heavy rain possible in the East. It warned that accumulated rainfall could contribute to flash floods and overflows, particularly in vulnerable areas.
While conditions are expected to gradually improve, rain is still likely to return on Tuesday, with further showers and thunderstorms possible in Pattaya during the following days. Residents and motorists are advised to remain alert for sudden downpours and water accumulating on roads. The continuing wet spell is also keeping Pattaya’s streets, beaches and businesses damp after the city’s recent run of storms and flooding.
