Pattaya City Hall has designated 84 parking spaces for the public in its 420-space, 10-storey car park following complaints about shortages.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City Hall has reorganised its 10-storey parking building, which accommodates 420 vehicles, to improve access for residents visiting municipal offices after persistent complaints about insufficient parking.

Mayor Poramet Ngampichet said on October 16 that the city surveyed parking use by department heads, municipal vehicles and staff before assigning designated areas to different groups, with the aim of making more spaces available to the public.

Under the new arrangement, levels 1A to 2B provide 42 spaces for department heads and official vehicles regularly used for municipal duties or urgent assignments. Levels 2A to 3B are allocated 84 spaces for members of the public, while levels 4A to 4B provide 48 spaces for municipal vehicles.

Levels 5A through to the rooftop are reserved for Pattaya City employees. A survey found approximately 301 staff vehicles using these areas, but demand still exceeds capacity, forcing some employees to park near Lotus’s shopping center and beside the lane near Fascino.

Poramet said the reorganization should make visits to City Hall more convenient, although parking shortages could persist on days with major meetings or public events that attract large numbers of visitors. The city will continue managing the available spaces to make the best use of the building and reduce congestion, he said.

Mayor Poramet Ngampichet says the new parking zones aim to improve access for residents visiting municipal offices, although demand may still exceed capacity during major meetings and events.
