PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory for Pattaya as heavy rain from the ongoing southwest monsoon is expected to affect the city and surrounding areas. Residents are urged to stay alert during this period as intense rainfall could lead to localized flooding and water accumulation in low-lying areas.

Authorities warn that urban drainage systems may be overwhelmed by heavy downpours, and motorists should exercise caution on flooded streets. Hillside communities near waterways are particularly vulnerable to sudden runoff, while pedestrians and drivers are advised to avoid areas prone to flash floods.

Marine conditions are also expected to be rough. Waves in the upper Gulf of Thailand may reach 1–2 meters, with thunderstorms potentially increasing wave heights above 2 meters. Local fishermen and boat operators are urged to navigate with care and avoid sailing in areas with heavy rain or thunderstorms.

Although a tropical depression is forecast to make landfall in southern China on 8–9 September, it is not expected to directly impact Thailand. Local authorities in Pattaya continue to monitor conditions closely and advise residents and tourists to follow safety guidance, secure property, and remain prepared for sudden weather changes.
