PATTAYA, Thailand – While tropical storm Danus churns through the East China Sea, weather officials confirmed Monday that the system poses no direct threat to Thailand — and certainly not to Pattaya, where skies remain mostly sunny and safe for both locals and visitors.

As of 4:00 PM on July 8, Thailand’s Meteorological Department reported that Danus was located roughly 65 kilometers east of Zhejiang province, China, with maximum sustained winds near the center of 65 kilometers per hour. The storm is moving slowly west-southwest and is expected to make landfall in eastern China later tonight.

Crucially, authorities emphasized that Danus will not enter Thai territory nor directly affect Thai weather patterns. However, its presence will reinforce the southwest monsoon currently covering the country, bringing stronger winds and intermittent showers to some western and southern provinces in the coming days.

But in Pattaya — Thailand’s coastal playground — the mood is far from stormy.

As of this evening, beaches remained open, skies mostly clear, and the general forecast points to a stretch of warm, breezy days ideal for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. Local authorities reassured tourists and residents alike that the city remains fully operational, with no advisories or warnings in place.

Visitors are advised to check weather conditions only if planning to travel outside the region, especially to China or countries closer to the storm’s projected path. But for Pattaya, business is as usual — vibrant, warm, and very much open to the world.

Thailand’s Weather Unaffected — Strengthened monsoon expected, but Pattaya remains tourist-ready.

No Storm, No Worries — Danus heads for China, while Pattaya enjoys clear skies and calm seas.
