PATTAYA, Thailand – Veterans First Healthcare Clinic, led by clinic manager Jackie Patcharachart, held a special event in Soi Rachawarun, Pratumnak Hill to commemorate Juneteenth National Independence Day — the U.S. holiday marking the end of slavery for African Americans.
Juneteenth is a significant day in American history, observed annually on June 19, to remember the moment in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned of their freedom — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued in 1863. In 2021, President Joe Biden officially declared Juneteenth a federal holiday in the United States.
Veterans First Healthcare Clinic, which specializes in providing medical services to U.S. military veterans residing in Thailand — especially in the Pattaya area — hosted the event as a tribute to freedom, equality, and human rights.
The clinic emphasized that its mission is to ensure that those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces receive appropriate, comprehensive, and accessible healthcare. The Juneteenth event also highlighted the clinic’s broader commitment to social justice, human dignity, and the continued strengthening of ties between the foreign veteran community and the local Thai society.
