New diesel price hike takes effect nationwide, with fuel station displays reflecting the increase as rising energy costs continue to impact transport and business operations in Pattaya.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Businesses and commuters in Pattaya are bracing for another surge in costs after authorities confirmed a sharp increase in diesel prices, set to take effect on April 3.

The Oil Fuel Fund Committee (Oil Fuel Fund Committee) announced it will reduce diesel subsidies by 3.51 baht per liter, lowering support to 14.27 baht per liter. As a result, the retail price of diesel will rise by 3.50 baht per liter to 47.74 baht.

Similarly, subsidies for B20 biodiesel have been reduced by 3.48 baht per liter to 16.64 baht, pushing the retail price up by 3.50 baht to 42.74 baht per liter at service stations nationwide.

The move is expected to have an immediate impact across Pattaya, where transport, logistics, and tourism-related businesses rely heavily on diesel. From baht buses and delivery vehicles to construction and service operators, higher fuel costs are likely to feed directly into daily expenses and, ultimately, consumer prices.

For many workers and small business owners, the increase adds to growing financial pressure, particularly as fuel remains a key part of daily operating costs. With multiple price adjustments in recent months, concerns are rising that continued increases could further strain both livelihoods and the broader tourism-driven economy.
