Nongprue police have clamped down on chaotic parking at the Raiwanasin Market, with motorbikes moved to keep traffic flowing.

Deputy Mayor Niyom Tiengtham visited the Soi Siam Country Club market Feb. 26 following complaints that so many cars and motorbikes were double- and triple-parking that only one of four lanes was open for commuters.

Market management was told to get all the motorbikes off the street and allow them to park on market property. They also were told to create a parking lot at the back of the market to accept a majority of the cars.

Nongprue road workers also painted new lane lines as well as 45-degree parking spots to make street parking more efficient, and legal.

Niyom said traffic police have been contacted to step up enforcement and keep the traffic moving.
