Non-formal educators meet in Pattaya

Private tutors and educators from 45 provinces proposed formation of a national non-formal education association at a meeting in Pattaya.

Education Ministry Secretary Chanyuth Hengtrakul and Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome welcomed members of association committees, clubs and private tutoring organizations Nov. 25 to the session planned to prepare Thailand’s educational system for the start of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.

Pornchai Pisansittakul, president of Non-Formal School Confederation of Thailand, said input from the 45 provinces helped to formulate the guidelines and mission for a new association.

Itthiphol said the association’s charter would be submitted to the Education Ministry for approval.
