A mute man who fell into a deep well and couldn’t shout for help was rescued after a nearby security guard thought he heard a ghost.

The unidentified man was pulled to safety April 27 from a 1.2-meter-wide, 10-meter-deep well behind an old house on Jomtien Soi 8.

A mute man who fell into a deep well and couldn’t shout for help was rescued after a nearby security guard thought he heard a ghost.

It took about 20 men 30 minutes to use ropes to pull up the victim, who was exhausted from being in deep water for several hours.

Hotel security guard Paiboon Boodchada, 54, said he heard moaning and noises coming from the house and thought they were spooky and convinced himself he was just hearing things.

But when he heard moaning again two hours later, he recruited a motorcycle taxi driver to help him investigate the “ghost” and found the man in the well.

The victim was mute and could not call for help, but managed to moan and groan loudly enough to eventually be heard.
