The Marbpradu Community organized a large merit-making ceremony to bring the Pattaya neighborhood prosperity for the Thai New Year.

President Supaporn Sanphakaew presided over the belated Songkran celebration April 21 in which nine monks from Boonsamphan Temple chanted and prayed before accepting a morning meal.

Neighbors, civil servants and current and former politicians donated cash and monk necessities to make merit and support the community organization over the next year.

Following lunch, elderly members of the community sat in a row as children and younger neighbors gently poured water over their palms in a traditional Songkran gesture.
