Korean immigration officials were given an overview of their Thai counterparts’ operations during a visit to the Chonburi Immigration Office in Jomtien Beach.

Col. Chusak Phanas-amporn, head of the Chonburi department, led the tour and presentation for Incheon International Airport Immigration Department officials Chang Deok Jeong and Hye Ran Yoon Nov. 25.

Chusak explained that immigration police work to prevent crimes committed by foreign visitors to Thailand and root out overseas fugitives by coordinating with international authorities that have issued arrest warrants for their fugitive nationals.

Arrests, he said, depend on the information provided by the various countries requesting for investigation.

Chusak noted that large numbers foreigners have come to reside in the Pattaya area and all of them must be investigated to determine if they were involved in any illegality in their home countries.

He also explained that immigration officials get regular information updates from hotels, entertainment venues and condominiums on their overseas customers.
