PATTAYA, Thailand – A late-night drinking dispute turned violent in Pattaya early Sunday morning (Feb 1), leaving a 33-year-old man seriously injured after he was attacked with a knife by a drinking companion.
Police and rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon responded to a report of a knife assault outside a bar on Soi 15, Pattaya, at around 3:00 a.m. Officers found a 33-year-old man, identified as Mr. Tiwa Mophaeng from Sing Buri province, intoxicated and suffering serious injuries caused by a sharp object. Rescue personnel provided first aid at the scene before rushing him to hospital, while his girlfriend, Ms. Phon-amphai Kaewkanha, also 33, was found intoxicated nearby.
According to initial statements from the injured man, he had earlier invited an acquaintance known as “May” to drink with him at Pattaya Central Beach. During the gathering, a verbal exchange escalated, and the suspect allegedly became angry and attacked him with a fruit knife before fleeing the scene.
The victim’s girlfriend told police that all parties knew each other and had been drinking together, but the suspect reportedly became upset due to a misunderstanding, believing the victim was involved with another woman, leading to the sudden outburst.
Police have secured the scene, collected evidence, and launched a manhunt for the suspect. Further questioning of the injured man will be conducted once his condition stabilizes, as investigators work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
