Police are trying to determine what caused the death of a house sitter found dead in a Sattahip home.

The body of Suwat Chaiyarath, 54, was found lying on a bed in the two-story house on Soi Wat Khao Khantamat July 11. Police estimated he had been dead about two days.

Sattahip rescue workers who broke into the house locked from the inside found Suwat dressed only in a pair of shorts with empty beer bottles scattered around the bed. There were no signs of foul play.

Co-worker Parikhathi Perkpuey, 48, said Suwat was part of a group of housekeepers. He had volunteered to stay at the house over the weekend while the owner was away.

Parikhathi said she became concerned when she could not reach Suwat by Sunday and came to the house and detected a strong odor of decay.

The body was sent for a forensic examination to determine the cause of death.
