PATTAYA, Thailand – While much of southern Thailand braces for heavy to very heavy rainfall, Pattaya is experiencing a mix of light showers, cool mornings, and moderate winds as winter weather patterns continue to shift across the country, according to the Meteorological Department’s 24-hour forecast issued on 5 December.

Although the South faces the most severe conditions—with persistent rain and potential flooding in provinces such as Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Phang-nga, Phuket, Trang, and Satun—the eastern seaboard, including Pattaya, will see only scattered rain and cloudy intervals. Chonburi province is expected to receive around 20–30% chance of showers, mainly in the afternoon and evening.

Despite the rain risk, Pattaya continues to enjoy relatively mild temperatures compared to the rest of the country. Morning lows hover around 23–25°C, rising to 30–31°C during the day, with easterly winds of 10–20 km/h bringing in moisture from the Gulf of Thailand. However, conditions offshore remain choppy. Waves in the upper Gulf may reach 1–2 meters, and thunderstorms could generate waves exceeding 2 meters, prompting authorities to advise small vessels to navigate with caution.

Air quality remains a concern across central Thailand, including Bangkok and the eastern region. Moderate to high levels of dust and haze are likely due to weak air circulation, and Pattaya may experience similar conditions during calm wind periods.

Residents and tourists are advised to keep an eye on changing weather patterns, especially during late-afternoon rainfall, and to exercise caution near beaches and piers during days with rougher seas. Despite isolated showers, Pattaya’s overall conditions remain suitable for outdoor activities, though carrying an umbrella is recommended.
