PATTAYA, Thailand – A heartbreaking accident has claimed the lives of an 18-year-old motorcycle rider and his passenger after their bike crashed into an electric pole on Bang Na-Trat Frontage Road on Thursday evening.

Police from Bang Na Station received a report around 6:10 PM and found the bodies of Mr. A (name withheld), the rider, and Ms. Surinda, 27, lying face down on the left lane near Soi Bang Na-Trat 16. Both suffered fatal head injuries, and the rider’s helmet was found shattered nearby. Their white Yamaha NMAX, still carrying a red license plate, lay heavily damaged about 20 meters away.

According to the investigation, the young rider had just purchased the motorcycle the day before and was working through a delivery app. He had picked up Ms. Surinda from the Samut Prakan area, heading toward Sukhumvit Soi 48. CCTV footage revealed that as he approached the turn, he glanced down at his mobile phone to check the route, lost control, and crashed head-on into the pole — killing both instantly.

This tragic case serves as a sobering reminder for both local residents and tourists in Pattaya and other cities who frequently use motorcycle rider services. Always ensure your rider is experienced, wearing a proper helmet, and avoiding distractions while on the road. If you have no other choice, consider using traditional taxi riders in orange vests around the corners. A moment’s inattention can cost two lives — yours and theirs.

The young man had just bought his motorcycle the day before to start work as a delivery rider — a tragic reminder for tourists and locals alike to always prioritize road safety when using rider services.
