Surfing has taken on a whole new meaning on Pattaya Beach after the city launched free wireless internet access from Bali Hai Pier to the Dusit curve.
Pattaya spent 24 million baht to have CAT Telecom PLC install the @Pattaya City Free Wi-Fi service with 24 hotspots allowing users to surf the web on the beach.
City spokesman Pinit Maneerat said the project shows city hall’s commitment to upgrading technology as part of the Eastern Economic Corridor plan.
Users have to register with their personal details to get two hours of free, 2-Mbps access per day, which is good for one year.
Once registered, users can log on by selecting the “@Pattaya City Free Wi-Fi” network from any connected device.
