The elder brother of 2018 Muay Thai Fighter of the Year Tawanchai PK was injured after an unknown gunman opened fire on his car in Pattaya.

Waranyu Kaewmala, 30, was grazed in the head and suffered minor injuries after he crashed his Chevrolet Sonic into a utility pole following the Jan. 22 shooting on Nong Maiken Road.

Police found a 9mm bullet in the seat and the car had several bullet holes. Police estimated the gunman fired six shots.

Waranyu said he was driving home when he saw a black pickup truck following him. When he approached a curve, shots rang out. Waranyu said he felt a bullet hit his head and he crashed the car. The gunman drove off.

No motive was known for the shooting, although his younger brother is the acclaimed Pattaya-native boxer who goes by the name Tawanchai PK Saenchai Muay Thai Gym who has won millions in top battles in Thailand and abroad and has his own sport clothes line.
