A drunken Iranian man in need of a toilet definitely picked the wrong house to break into.

Iman Mahmoodi Barikarasfi, 30, was arrested Nov. 24 in a bathroom at the Koh Larn weekend home of Deputy Prime Minister Maj. Gen. Sanan Kajornprasart, the Royal Thai Army’s chief of staff. In his haste to urinate, Iman had apparently broken into the Samae Beach house, forced his way into the bathroom and broke the door and a shower in the process.

Sanan was not at the house at the time, but housekeeper Patchanan Thamniab quickly calculated the damage at 35,598 baht. Dressed in shorts and a gray singlet, Iman offered only 15,000 baht, saying the housekeeper’s estimate for replacement materials, service and transportation to the island was too high. Police tossed the Iranian into a jail cell to consider his options.

Twenty minutes later, Barikarasfi called back officers and agreed to the housekeeper’s demands. The property damage charges were dropped and the Iranian was released.
