Drug party ends in hail of gunfire

One man was arrested and another escaped following a drug party that ended in gunfire in East Pattaya.

Woraka Samerpan, 29, was captured outside the Baan Puang Resort on Soi Khao Noi Dec. 6 by patrol officers investigating reports of drugs and guns being used at the guesthouse.

Sergeant Wisarut Buathong alleged Woraka and his friend, identified only as “Bird”, opened fire on him and his partner when they arrived at the hotel. The officers returned fire, littering the hotel grounds with bullet holes and shells.

Inside Woraka’s bullet-riddled truck, police found a 9 mm handgun, 30 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 20 ya ba tablets.

Police said Woraka told them that he and bird rented the hotel room to await delivery of drugs from their supplier. But after they got their stash, they decided to have a party and procured two women to join them.

He said he had been arrested six times previously on drug-dealing charges, but always returned to it once freed.

Woraka was charged with possession of an illegal firearm and Category 1 narcotics.
