Drivers risk death catching flying cash on Highway 7

Thais with baht signs in the eyes played chicken with oncoming traffic for a handful of loose bills after an elderly man slammed a pickup loaded with 720,000 baht into a barrier on Highway 7.

Teerapong Nawangsatusas, 74, sustained non-fatal injuries to his head and torso and had to be cut out of his wrecked Mitsubishi Triton following the May 2 accident in Pattaya.

In his wake he left a scene that would have been comical had it not been so dangerous.

In the accident, some of the 720,000 baht Teerapong was carrying in his truck scattered the wind. Motorists pulled their cars over on both shoulders of the busy highway and darted across several lanes to grab the carried-away currency.

Dashcam video of the mayhem posted to the internet showed cars coming to abrupt stops to avoid flattening people putting their lives at risk for a 1,000-baht note or two.
