Sawang Boriboon rescue workers and Pong Disaster Prevention and Mitigation officers were called to the 20th-kilometer marker Dec. 14 where 25 tons Methyl methacrylate spilled across the roadway.

The odorless liquid is only mildly toxic to humans, but does pose a fire risk. Officers hosed down the highway and no one was injured.

Driver Kithisak Jaidiow, 36, said he was hauling the chemical to Laem Chabang Port when he inexplicably lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip.
