PATTAYA, Thailand – A cement truck overturned at the Thepphraya Intersection on Thappraya Road, Jomtien, causing significant traffic disruption, September 6. Pattaya municipal officers, police, fire, and environmental teams quickly responded, closing the uphill lane to ensure public safety. The truck has since been removed, and traffic flow has returned to normal.

The incident drew immediate attention from local residents, who shared their concerns online. Some blamed distracted driving, saying, “Most likely, a case of the mobile phone is more important than the eyes on the road. Again!” and “ACCIDENT – Way Too Fast… Exceeded the Speed Limit!” Others emphasized road safety, commenting, “Safety for all people,” and urging authorities to check the driver’s condition: “Don’t forget to check the driver’s urine test too” and “Were they drunk or what?”

Commuters also expressed frustration about traffic and hazards from heavy vehicles. “Traffic jam again,” “Cement trucks entering the city are never cleaned. Following behind, cement debris falls everywhere,” and “How do you drive for it to overturn, right in the middle of the city?” were among the remarks. Others called for stricter enforcement, saying, “Driving too fast,” “Speeding drivers should get heavy fines,” and “I want to see the CCTV.” Some residents noted the timing of traffic lights could have worsened the situation: “If traffic lights on the Jomtien-Pattaya route are green, it could have been worse,” while others reflected on the danger: “Driving was scary with the cement truck,” and “If the opposite side gets a green light, it would have been even worse.”

Authorities reminded the public to stay cautious on the roads, particularly around heavy vehicles, and encouraged reporting any incidents via the Pattaya City Hotline 1337 to help maintain safety.

Pattaya officials swiftly clear overturned cement truck at Thepphraya Intersection, restore traffic flow and ensure public safety.
