BANGKOK, Thailand – During the “Food Security in an Age of Shocks” session Thursday morning, Burkina Faso’s Finance Minister, Aboubakar Nacanabo, shared key lessons on addressing food security challenges and helping vulnerable populations cope with crises. Nacanabo outlined three key considerations: whether food is available and affordable, whether a crisis is temporary or prolonged, and which households or regions need the most assistance.

Depending on the circumstances, cash transfers and food imports may offer immediate relief. However, long-term resilience also requires investment in local food production and communities’ capacity to meet their essential needs. Nacanabo also stressed the importance of clear communication and practical solutions tailored to the needs of affected populations. (NNT)
