Banglamung District will make a last-ditch push for Thais to come out to the polls Aug. 7 to vote in the constitutional referendum.

District Chief Chakorn Kanchawattana said July 21 that the district office, plus officials from Nongprue, Huay Yai, Pong, Nong Plalai, Takhiantia and Khao Maikaew sub-districts will launch their “get out the vote” campaign Aug. 4.

Polls for the referendum on approval or rejection of the proposed constitution open at 8 a.m. Aug. 7 and close at 4 p.m.

The district chief said governments already have been trying to educate voters on the provisions of the draft constitution and encouraged universities to objectively educate people as well. Advocating a position or lobbying for the draft charter’s approval or rejection is banned under the Referendum Law.

There have been many announcements and public relations efforts via local newspapers and TV to ensure people use their vote wisely.

Government authorities will cover all communities and spread the knowledge.
