A Thai woman thought to have been sexually assaulted and pushed from an under-construction building on Koh Larn admitted she made up the story after getting in a drunken argument with her boyfriend.

Natapatch Polthong, 20, of Lat Krabang District in the capital, was found unconscious near the building site on a Koh Larn beach early Jan. 5, nude from the waist down.

Security footage shows the woman leaving the hotel.

The woman originally told police she had gone for a walk after dark on the beach and was curious about the under-construction building and had gone up to the second floor. There she encountered a man who pushed her and she fell unconscious.

Further investigation, however, revealed Natapatch ran out of her room at the Happy Love Resort on Soi Krokmakham 6 after having a post-coital argument with her boyfriend. She admitted to leaving her panties behind.

The boyfriend spent four minutes looking for her, then tried to call her using a hotel phone.

The woman admitted she made up the story because she was a bit drunk and embarrassed. Beach vendors and business owners near the hotel were unhappy, saying such fabrications damage the reputation of Koh Larn and impact their business.
