Deputy Bangkok Governor Tavida Kamolvej reports on continuing flood recovery, drainage operations and financial assistance for residents in affected Bangkok communities.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is accelerating flood recovery and financial assistance as water levels continue to recede across affected areas. Most remaining flooded areas have water levels of about 15–25 centimeters, although depths of around 50 centimeters persist in some communities, including Flora Ville Village in Nong Chok and the Rom Klao Housing Community.

Deputy Bangkok Governor Tavida Kamolvej reported on October 6 that drainage operations are continuing with additional pumps and resources from military units, the Royal Irrigation Department, the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. Relief supplies and public health services remain available for affected residents, while preparations for waste collection and cleanup are underway as conditions improve.

About 522,000 people have registered for assistance through the Thang Rath application, while another 50,300 applications were submitted through the “Claim.Bangkok” system and 2,498 through district offices. Around 22 additional service points are helping residents complete online registration, while district officials verify eligibility. Initial relief payments are expected to begin this week for applicants whose information has been reviewed and confirmed.

The BMA is also using a District Buddy system to let districts with available resources assist harder-hit areas with personnel, garbage trucks, cleanup work, registration, and document processing. Engineering agencies and other organizations will support field assessments of property damage, helping reduce the workload on district offices and speed up recovery for affected communities. (NNT)
