BANGKOK, Thailand – Police rescued a 16-year-old girl and arrested a 17-year-old suspect accused of arranging her sexual exploitation during an undercover operation at a hotel in Bangkok’s Bang Na area.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Child and Women Welfare Division launched the operation after receiving information that an intermediary was using LINE to offer sexual services involving underage girls.
Investigators arranged an undercover meeting for 2,600 baht. According to police, half the money was intended for the girl, while the remaining 1,300 baht was to be retained by the intermediary as commission. Officers recorded the transaction details and copied the banknotes before the operation.
Police said the suspect brought the girl to the agreed hotel, where an undercover officer handed over the money before signalling a waiting team to intervene. Officers safely rescued the girl, detained the suspect and seized the marked cash as evidence.

According to police, the suspect admitted during preliminary questioning to acting as an intermediary and receiving payment. Police said the suspect faces a charge under Thailand’s anti-human trafficking law in connection with allegedly procuring a person under 18 for prostitution. The suspect was taken to Bang Na Police Station for further legal proceedings. Investigators are continuing their inquiries to establish whether anyone else was involved.
