Two people were killed when their pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer on Highway 36 in Rayong.
Jaruk Boonyungyeung, 65, and an unidentified woman passenger both died at the scene of the wreck at the U-turn for Highway 331. The woman suffered a broken neck.
Nearby their smashed Isuzu Dmax was an empty 18-wheeler registered in Surat Thani Province. The driver had fled the scene, leaving behind his vehicle, whose rear section was damaged.
Police assume Jaruk lost control of his pickup and smashed into the side of the moving big rig. Police are searching for the driver of the 18-wheeler.
