BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand will present its Bangkok Blueprint, a digital finance framework designed to expand access to financial services, during the 2026 IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok from October 12–18, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas said. The blueprint will showcase Thailand’s use of digital platforms to help small traders and businesses access financial services, including examples involving the Pao Tang and Tung Ngern applications and the AI-powered “Nok Krasip” system.
The Bank of Thailand will also work with the International Monetary Fund to demonstrate how digital finance can be used safely. Ekniti said the initiative could provide a model for financial leaders worldwide to adapt and develop further. Thailand will also host a Bangkok Dialogue on the final day of the meetings to discuss how the outcomes of the seven-day event can be carried forward. Ekniti said he expected the impact of the meetings to continue well beyond the event itself. “I believe it will not end after these seven days, but will continue to shape global financial and economic discussions for years to come,” he said.
Data centers and AI infrastructure will also feature in discussions. Ekniti said Thailand would share its approach to developing minimum standards for data centers that take into account economic, environmental and social considerations, while ensuring that such infrastructure benefits the country. Climate change and environmental challenges will be another major focus. Thailand plans to showcase its long-standing water management experience, including the Kaem Ling water-retention model, at the Royal Pavilion. A global forum on water management will allow countries to exchange experiences on flooding and drought, while Thailand will consider the lessons for its medium-term fiscal framework.
Ekniti said Thailand’s role as host also provides an opportunity to present the country’s economic and financial capabilities to international leaders and strengthen its position in global economic discussions.
