PATTAYA, Thailand – Authorities are urging visitors to plan ahead as Pattaya prepares for peak Songkran and Wan Lai celebrations from April 17–19, with the biggest day expected on April 19.
The city’s main highlight, “Wan Lai Pattaya” on April 19, is expected to draw massive crowds, prompting strict traffic controls and full beach road closures to manage safety and congestion.
From 12:00 PM to midnight, Pattaya Beach Road will be closed to vehicles from the Dolphin Roundabout to Wat Chai Mongkhon intersection, creating a full pedestrian and water-play zone. Water trucks and vehicles are strictly prohibited from entering the area during this period.
To ensure emergency access, Soi 1–13/4 connecting Beach Road and Second Road will be reserved exclusively as emergency routes, with officials urging the public not to park along these paths.
During April 17–18, celebrations will take place along Beach Road with multiple stages and concerts across five zones. Traffic will remain normal during the day but will be closely managed at night, with over 800 police officers and volunteers deployed across Pattaya Beach, Jomtien Beach, and surrounding areas.
Parking will be available at designated public and commercial locations across northern, central, and southern zones, but officials expect heavy congestion and recommend avoiding private vehicles where possible.
Authorities say the best way to enjoy the festival is to plan travel carefully, use public transport, and prepare for large crowds as Pattaya enters its busiest holiday period of the year.
