PATTAYA, Thailand – Koh Pha, a famous Instagram-worthy island in Phang Nga, Thailand, known for its striking white sandbanks and crystal-clear waters on either side, has reopened to welcome tourists. Often dubbed the “Maldives of Thailand,” the island attracts visitors eager to capture the unique sight of blue and green waters divided by a narrow sand pathway.
Located in Ko Khao Subdistrict, Takua Pa District, Koh Pha sees increasing activity as the high season approaches. Tourists, both Thai and international, take a short 30–40 minute boat ride from Ban Nam Khem Pier to reach the sandbanks, which appear above water only at low tide. Visitors can enjoy the reflection of the sky on the calm water, making it a perfect spot for photography.
The surrounding community offers local-style tourism services, including guided boat tours, fresh seafood, and cold beverages, generating income for the residents of Ko Khao. Meanwhile, local authorities strictly enforce safety measures and promote eco-friendly practices to preserve the island’s delicate marine ecosystem.

The island’s signature sandbanks emerge only during low tide and gradually submerge as the water rises, so visitors are advised to check tide schedules before planning their trips. Popular activities include walking and taking photos on the sandbanks, snorkeling to see coral reefs and clownfish, and enjoying the sunrise.
Private boat rentals start at approximately 2,000–2,500 THB per boat, accommodating 8–10 people. For bookings, tourists can contact the Ko Khao Community Tourism Group at 09-8020-2742 or the Ko Khao Boat Association at 084-841-2367.
