PATTAYA, Thailand – During the long Mother’s Day holiday from August 9-12, Trat province is expecting more than 26,190 tourists, generating approximately 190.84 million baht in revenue, according to the Trat Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) office.
Koh Kood remains the hottest destination, attracting 2,990 visitors and generating over 24.16 million baht—an increase of 21.89% compared to 2,453 tourists in 2024.
Korakot Opas, Director of TAT Trat Office, said that the overall tourism in Trat during the holiday is strong. Koh Kood continues to charm visitors with its pristine nature, crystal-clear sea, and tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. The island has 51 accommodations with 1,360 rooms, parking facilities on the mainland for self-driving tourists, and convenient, safe, and fast transport services including buses from Bangkok and passenger boats.
Regarding recent border incidents, Korakot assured that these areas are far from key tourist spots such as Koh Chang, Koh Kood, and Koh Mak. Visitors can safely enjoy activities like diving, beach relaxation, and community-based tourism. Life in Trat remains peaceful, and TAT Trat acts as a central information and facilitation center for both operators and tourists.
“The number of tourists traveling to Trat reflects confidence in the Thai-Cambodian border situation. Islands like Koh Chang, Koh Kood, and Koh Mak remain strong magnets for visitors,” he said. Trat is expected to maintain its position as a top secondary destination in Thailand, with over 11,500 tourist entitlement uses recorded to date, underscoring its potential and readiness as a popular tourist spot.

In August, TAT Trat will host the ‘Singha Pa Mae Mu’ event and the ‘Travel Trat with Love for the Environment’ campaign to encourage more tourists. Access to Trat is available by land, air, and sea, with all transportation services operating normally.
Ms. Pitchaya Tachaiaditsap, President of Trat Hotel Association and operator of Koh Kood Paradise Resort, told Pattaya Mail reporter that tourist arrivals at Koh Kood remain lively, especially during weekends and long holidays, with an occupancy rate around 70%. The island’s beauty and easy accessibility, combined with the “Thai Travel Half-Half” campaign, have attracted many tourists using their entitlements.
Despite some impact from unrest near the Thai-Cambodian border causing some seminar groups to postpone, many hotels report full or high bookings during the Mother’s Day holiday. Koh Kood Paradise Resort already has over 50% bookings, showing strong tourist confidence.
Pitchaya expressed concern about misunderstandings regarding safety due to border unrest or martial law rumors circulating as fake news on social media. She urged relevant government tourism agencies, including TAT, to use official websites and trusted social channels to provide accurate, updated information to boost tourist confidence. Koh Kood, in particular, is often mistakenly labeled dangerous in fake news, leading to frequent tourist inquiries.
