BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s new Immigration Bureau chief inspected operations at Suvarnabhumi Airport on October 1, his first day in the position, focusing on assistance for passengers affected by cancelled flights and delayed baggage. Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopasilp Poolsawas, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, checked the work of immigration officers and instructed staff to maintain strict screening of people entering and leaving the country while ensuring convenient service for legitimate travellers.
He also called for close coordination between Immigration, the airport, airlines and other relevant agencies to assist passengers and address operational problems. During the inspection, Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopasilp also reviewed the use of Automatic Border Control (ABC) passport channels, which are designed to speed up immigration processing and help manage arriving passenger flows.
The Immigration Bureau has approved access to the automated channels for citizens of an additional 31 nationalities and territories, expanding eligibility from the previous two. The expansion is intended to increase processing capacity and reduce waiting times for arriving passengers at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
