The souvenir shop owner informs Krabi Tourist Police that an Indian tourist had paid compensation for a damaged refrigerator magnet and left before officers arrived.

KRABI, Thailand – An Indian tourist paid compensation for a damaged souvenir after Krabi Tourist Police responded to a dispute at a souvenir shop in Ao Nang on October 10. Tourist Police from Krabi Unit 1 (Ao Nang) received a request for assistance through hotline 1155 at about 7.24pm after a shop contacted them over a broken refrigerator magnet.

According to the shop owner, the tourist had accidentally dropped the magnet while browsing the merchandise. Although the broken pieces could not be found, the shop considered the item damaged and unsuitable for resale, and sought compensation. The tourist disputed responsibility, saying the item might already have been defective and that he would accept responsibility if the broken pieces could be found and it could be established that he had damaged it.

When officers arrived at the shop, staff informed them that the tourist had already paid compensation. The shop thanked Tourist Police for responding and assisting with the dispute.

The Tourist Police said they remain available to help visitors resolve problems during their stay in Thailand. Tourists can contact the hotline at 1155.
