Jesters Care for Kids Charity Drive 2012, Sponsored by Glencore International and Canadian Jackalope Open
Our Fair, the event that requires the most planning and causes the most anxiety, primarily about the weather, has been successfully accomplished and is finally behind us. Now its time to bring on our celebratory fund-raiser, which, oh, by the way, is tomorrow night, Saturday, September 22nd at the Amari Orchid Pattaya.
This is our second year since transforming the traditional Pub Night into a Gala Party Night, which now also includes a sit-down international buffet dinner, complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks and live entertainment. We know you like the makeover too, as this event is once again sold out!
Jimmy Page came back to play some more on the guitar he is donating.
The marathon auction, which previously dominated recent Pub Nights, is now gone. The new emphasis is to keep you entertained throughout the evening, and towards that end, Richy has booked an all-star line-up for the bill, including the popular BBLT as headliner.
Of course, the goal is still to raise funds on the night for underprivileged kids in need of safe shelter and education, so the auction will go on as usual but significantly abbreviated. Only 10 items will be publicly auctioned by Mark Rogers, who also assisted us last year. The rest of the 15 items will be bid on via silent auction in the back of the ballroom throughout the evening.
The top auction item this year, and arguably the best item we have ever had since our inception in 1998, is the signed guitar by Jimmy Page. This guitar has been the one that has accompanied him during his Southeast Asia travels. He donated this guitar earlier in the year, and recently, was back again so he could play it some more with the intention to increase its value.
There are more fabulous auction items too, such as a diamond ring, a Wayne Gretzky signed jersey, a Man United signed jersey by all squads in 2011, a fully working replica of a 1900’s motorcycle and a Shaq signed basketball.
The other way we will raise money on the night is through grand raffle ticket sales. And to help spur those sales, the top prize this year is a flashy red Honda PCX 150, donated by the Jesters. There are many other great prizes too, such as vouchers for car rentals, hotel stays and domestic excursions.
Please remember that you do not have to be present to win, which is why we ask you for your name and contact details filled in on all tickets. Winners’ names will be posted in next week’s issue of the Pattaya Mail as well.
The festivities start at 7 p.m. in the foyer of the Aranda Ballroom, which is located between the Tower Wing of the resort and the Mantra. Around 8 p.m., we will enter the ballroom for dinner, as Russell Jay, our host for the evening, begins the welcoming formalities, which will then be followed by the entertainment program and the start of a fun-filled evening.
The best way to get to the Amari by vehicle is to go past the Dolphin Circle towards Beach Road. The first left is the original entrance to the hotel and now is referred as the Garden Wing. This locale offers the most parking spaces and involves a short walk down past the swimming pools to the venue.
There is also some parking in the Mantra and around the Tavern by the Sea on the beachfront. Please look for our banners and logos.
