Thai women planning to travel abroad were encouraged to download a new smartphone application offering information for Thais staying overseas.
Called YingThai, the app and accompanying YingThai.com website were launched Feb. 9 by the Social Development and Human Security Ministry’s Department of Women’s Affairs and Family Development in Chonburi.
DWF chief Lertpanya Buranabundit said the app, available for free for both Apple and Android phones, was demonstrated at an orientation for 100 Thai women and transgenders who will be going abroad. Also attending the event at the Learning and Training Centre on Older Persons were 100 officials and women rights advocates.
YingThai is a hub for information pulled together from various networks and offers contact phone numbers and information on relevant laws, government organizations and hotlines.
The orientation offered the soon-to-be travelers knowledge and lectures on real experiences from people who used to live overseas.
