Vehicle production in Mar rises by 13.8% y-o-y

BANGKOK, 21 April 2011  – A total of 172,004 vehicles were manufactured in March 2011, rising by 13.8% year-on-year and 14.1% from the previous month, according to the Automotive Industry Club of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). 

Automotive Industry Club Suparat Sirisuwanangkura reported that car production in March 2011 stood at 65,044 units, an increase of 47.9% from the same month last year.

Total car output in the first quarter this year was 177,259, representing 37.9% of all vehicle outputs and an increase of 56.17% from the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, the production of one-ton pickup trucks was reported at 104,596 units in March 2011, dwindling by 0.69% year-on-year.

As for the figure for the first three months, it stood at 284,991 units, which accounted for 60.77% of the total automobile production and rose by 7.9% from the same quarter last year.
