Thailand hosts ERIA meeting for ASEAN economic development research

BANGKOK, 22nd October 2013 Thailand is to host this year’s meeting for the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia: ERIA, held to discuss policy planning. 

Mr.Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan, Commerce Minister and Deputy Prime Minister presided over the ERIA meeting. The agenda for the meeting was to discuss issues concerning policy forming, strategic planning and ERIA budget planning, as well as to address the economic research topics that ASEAN member countries asked ERIA to conduct for the years 2012-2013.

The ERIA was established from the 3rd East Asia Summit, EAS, in 2007 by the 6 dialogue partner countries. Missions for trade promotion and boosting economic clusters within East Asia for investment and the development of SME’s, human resources and infrastructure are among the topics of focus. The points of the meeting will be presented to leaders and Prime Ministers of 16 countries.
