BANGKOK, 30 April 2014 – The Commerce Ministry is set to organize “THAIFEX – World of food ASIA 2014” at IMPACT, with an aim to promote the popularity of Thai food in the international community.
Ms Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, director-general of the International Trade Promotion Department (DITP), has revealed that the combined value of Thai food exports last year totaled 25 billion US dollars or approximately 787 billion baht, with canned and processed food products topping the list, followed by rice, frozen shrimp, and processed fruit and vegetables.
As this year’s exports have been heavily affected by the political turmoil, the DITP will play host to “THAIFEX – World of food ASIA 2014” in May to once again trigger the food export industry as well as to prepare the Thai food entrepreneurs for the advent of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.
“THAIFEX – World of food ASIA 2014” will run from May 21 until May 25 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. Visitors will be offered with quality food products from 1,500 companies in Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Italy, Cambodia, Brail, Brunei, Singapore, Turkey, and Vietnam.
