BANGKOK, June 17 – Operating power plants in the Thai south have been able to generate electricity to meet the power demand during the 28-day gas supply suspension from the Thailand-Malaysia Joint Development Area (JDA) in the Gulf of Thailand.

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) confirmed on Tuesday that the electrical power generated by all operating plants in the Thai South was normal on Monday, the fourth day of the JDA-A18 gas supply cut.

According to EGAT, the power demand in the region peaked at 2,162.96 megawatts at 7.12pm and all power plants operated without any disruption.

EGAT’s announcement was made after NCPO Deputy Chief Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong visited Nakhon Si Thammarat province in the South where he inspected the Khanom Power and Gas Separation Plants and ordered parties concerned to prepare for any emergency during the gas supply disruption while maintenance is being done by PTT Pcl (PTT) from June 13-July 10.
