BANGKOK, 14 June 2014 – Inspection teams have been established to verify stocks of rice in warehouses nationwide. The inspection will be carried out at the end of this month.

According to Deputy Interior Permanent Secretary M.L. Panadda Diskul, in his capacity as acting Permanent Secretary for PM’s Office, 100 teams of inspectors have been formed to verify whether the actual amount of rice kept in warehouses is the same as declared in the documents. He said the operation will be launched at the end of June. The teams consist of officials from the Commerce Ministry, the Interior Ministry, and the PM’s Office.

After receiving the required rice documents from the Commerce Ministry, he would dispatch the inspection teams to check on rice warehouses randomly without consent of the warehouse owners, the Permanent Secretary disclosed.
