BANGKOK, April 1 – The number of passengers at Suvarnabhumi International Airport increased immediately by 4 per cent compared to the period when the Emergency Decree in the capital and its adjacent areas was in effect.

Raweewan Netarakavesana, Suvarnabhumi airport director, said lifting the decree resulted in travel warnings changes by a number of countries.

She noted during the April 9-18 Songkran festival, the number of passengers is expected to grow by 32,000, while airlines have asked for additional 230 flight landing permissions, of which 210 flights are international, particularly from Japan and China, while the other 20 flights are domestic.

Ms Raweewan said that flight increase was a good sign for the recovery of Thailand’s tourism.
